Clinical Supervision

As county behavioral health departments face unprecedented workforce challenges, CalMHSA has partnered with a provider successful in scaling remote clinical supervision services in California. This ensures:

  • Counties with licensed supervisor shortages can secure essential supervision for their clinical staff.
  • Counties can separate clinical supervision from administrative supervision.
  • Staff receive supervision that is 100% dedicated to their clinical needs.
  • Additional leverage for counties in their clinician recruitment and retention efforts.

Beyond Supervision

Virtual clinical supervisors connect through a HIPAA-compliant platform. More than just supervision, this flexible solution offers staff:

  • Improved skill sets
  • Fresh perspectives and learning approaches
  • Actionable suggestions to implement with clients
  • Confidence in supervisors who have been trained on Medi-Cal client populations within county behavioral health
  • Versatility in schedule accommodation

Hands-on Solution for Counties

Counties purchase remote individual supervision hours for pre-licensed staff, and:

  • Counties meet with and select the supervisor best suited for their staff.
  • A county-level portal offers a dashboard of supervision hours for each staff.
  • Option to purchase triad supervision (two associates, one supervisor)
  • Option to purchase group supervision (three to eight associates, one supervisor)
