Grateful for Our County “Family”
Amie Miller, PsyD, Executive Director
Ahead of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we at CalMHSA took some time recently to re-connect with our own mission, to ready ourselves for 2025, and to remember how thankful we are for the work you’re doing every day to ensure access to public behavioral health care.
Our focused planning included hearing the amazing recovery journey of a Peer specialist in Nevada County. His story of personal struggle and of the care he received – and now helps to provide – motivated our team to dig even deeper as we think about how to partner with your counties.
As we considered our own mission, certain words showed up repeatedly in our discussions: community, champion, safety net, uplift.
When I see those words, I realize – they’re you. They’re what counties do: act as champions for the most vulnerable people, serve as the safety net in the public health system, reach out and respond to community needs, uplift anyone who comes through your doors.
In a way that inspires me to think of us as family, I also see those words exemplified in CalMHSA’s work. We strive to be your champion; to create a broader community of counties partnering for a greater good; to understand the importance of your safety net and support it with new solutions; and to figure out what we can do to assist your commitment to uplift those who need you.
That’s what it’s all about.
The CalMHSA team is more motivated than ever to grow and evolve to meet whatever needs may arise in 2025, and we look to the new year with resolve and hope.
With profound appreciation for your work, your dedication, and your expertise – happy holiday season from all of us.
